FLOOD, DOUGHTY

Mrs. Johanna FLOOD, one of the best known residents of this
community, died at her home in Noblestown, Wednesday morning, July 19, after
a lingering illness.

The deceased was born in Carlow County, Ireland, December 2,
1842. Coming to America with her parents at the age of eight years, she
settled in Freeport, Pa., where her early girlhood days were spent. In 1862
she was united to Thomas H. FLOOD, who preceded her to the grave some
twenty-seven years ago. Ten children were born to this union, the following
of whom survive: James of Noblestown, Stephen B. of Sturgeon, Mrs. Ella
CRANDALL of Marietta, Ohio, and Patrick, Mary and Margaret at home.

Widowed early in life and thrown upon her own resources, she
reared a family who are a credit to her and to the town in which they
reside. A kind and loving mother, a true and faithful friend and neighbor,
she won the respect and admiration of all who knew her. She was ever ready
to extend the hand of sympathy to those who were in need, and her charitable
acts and kindly deeds will long be remembered by her hosts of friends.

She was a devout and consistent member of St. Patrick's Church,
from which place the funeral took place Friday morning at half past ten,
solemn requiem high mass being celebrated by the Rev. Father D. J. COX,
pastor, assisted by the Rev. Father J. J. SHOLTZ of Carnegie, as deacon and
the Rev. Father J. PONAAK of Imperial, sub-deacon. Interment was made in
St. Patrick's cemetery.

The sympathy of the entire vicinity is extended to the family,
in this their hour of sad bereavement.

Died suddenly at his home in Shirland, George DOUGHTY, son of
Mellon DOUGHTY.
