CROUPE, WEAVER, SOLINGER
Mrs. J. G. REANEY on Saturday was called to the home of her
sister, Mrs. Jennie CROUPE, at Mount Hope on account of the latter's serious
illness. Mrs. CROUPE died on Sunday.

Struck down by the eastbound Wheeling express, Cornelius WEAVER, a
widely known farmer of Washington county, was instantly killed at Midway
about two o'clock Thursday afternoon, September 14. The aged man was
hurled a considerable distance by the speeding train, one arm being broken.
He was
walking along the track at the time and failed to hear the approaching
train.
Cornelius WEAVER, or as he was popularly known "Colonel" WEAVER,
was born in England 81 years ago. His younger days were spent in Wales and
when he was twelve years old he came to America coming almost immediately to
Washington county. For many years he was located in the West Middletown
section, but for the past forty years had resided at Midway. He had spent
his entire life in farming and retired from active work about ten years ago.
Mr. WEAVER was a lifelong member of the United Presbyterian Church. In
politics he was a democrat but had never held office. His wife has been
dead for the past five years.
Mr. WEAVER eaves the following children: Thomas WEAVER, Mrs.
Margaret HOLMES and Mrs. Mary PARKINSON, of Midway; Mrs. Jennie KIMMEL of
Jewett, Ohio, Mrs. N. L. HAUCK, of Marion, Ohio.
Funeral services in charge of the Rev. J. G. REANEY were held in
the home of Thomas WEAVER, Saturday afternoon. Interment in Center
cemetery.

Struck by the Wheeling express as he stepped from a freight train
Charles T. SOLINGER of Midway was instantly killed about 8:30 o'clock
Thursday morning, September 14. The young man was on his way to catch the
nine o'clock train when overtaken by death. The body was so mutilated that
identification was difficult.
The son of Mrs. Elizabeth SOLINGER, Charles T. SOLINGER was born
July 26, 1886, at Sixport, Butler County. He had been a resident of Midway
for several years.
Besides his mother he leaves three brothers and three sisters:
Frank SOLINGER of Metz, W. Va.,; James SOLINGER of Fairview, W. Va.; Howard
SOLINGER at home; Mrs. Minnie GLOVER, Carnegie, and Mrs. Martha STANFORD and
Mrs. Anna WENDEL, both of Pittsburgh.
Funeral services in charge of McDonald Lodge No. 30, L. O. O. M.,
were held at the home Saturday morning. Interment in Center cemetery.
