Amos:
1. DAR info: Amos McCreary served as a private in Capt. Andrew Patterson's
company, York County Pennsylvania militia. He died, after 1790, in Bedford
County, Pa.
2. Another source for Amos death states: Died: 1830 in Napier Twp., Bedford,
PA
3. Adams Co assessment for 1800 made in 1799 lists an Amos McCreary
with value assessed as $1166 in MountPleasant Township.
4. Amos was S/O Thomas McCreary d. BEF 30 DEC 1785 in , York, PA
+ Sarah Edwards d. BEF 1803

D/O ROBERT WHINERY and ISABELL
ROBERT2 WHINERY (PATRICK1) was born in Grange, near Charlemont, Ireland, and
died 1791 in Newberry, York County, Pennsylvania. He married ISABELL 1740
In 1749, Robert was assessed in Kennett Township, Chester, but about 1750, he
removed with his family to York County, settling within the limits of
Newberry Meeting, his certificate of removal from Newark, dated 7 Mo. 1,
1750, being received at Warrington Monthly Meeting, 10 Mo. 21, 1752. Robert
Whinery's membership in the Society of Friends was discontinued in 1754
Daughter of Amos McCreary and Hannah Whinery:
Sarah McCreary (b. 1777 probably York or Adams Co d. 23 Dec 1819 St. Clair
Twp, Bedford Co., PA) m. May 1, 1801 Joseph Tomlinson (b. March 23, 1772 d.
August 6, 1858 in Bedford Co). Joseph and Sarah moved from Adams Co to
Bedford Co in 1810 with two young sons Joseph W. and Benjamin
Children of Sarah McCreary and Joseph Tomlinson:
1. Joseph W. - I have lots of info on Joseph W. and his children
2. Benjamin - All the info I have on Benjamin is from Amos McCreary DAR info:
Born Dec. 10, 1805 died 1886
m. 183(8)? E. Emma Gibbons (b. April 4, 1808 d. 1872)
Their daughter: Mary Gibbons Tomlinson m. 1880 Luke Cheney Strider
Info I have found on the Gibbons, Strider & Offut families indicate they
may be from the Charlestown, W.Va area and I have found no record of Benjamin
in Bedford County.
Any info on these families would be appreciated.
