Fellow rooters,
I have from 'Pennsylvania German Pioneers', one Henirk (sic) Pieter
Mallesie arriving Philadelphia October 31, 1786 aboard the brig Dispatch
with wife and Henrich Pieter, Johannes, Willem Pieter, and Anna Maria as
4 and one half freights. They were inspected as servants !! I calculate
4 1/2 freights being father, mother, one child over 16 (3 freights) and
3
under 16 (1 1/2 freights). The 'Names of Foreigners Who Took the Oath of
Allegiance to the Province and State of Pennsylvania' shows the same
family arriving on board the 'Hannah' Captain Andrew Davis, from
Amsterdam Oct 17, 1786. I know they are here, they arrived twice !!! The
next sighting of any similar name, that I can find, is the 1790 census
Fayette County, Springhill Twp, of Peter Molisy w/family, 1 male under
16, 1 male over 26, 2 females. 1800 census shows Peter Mollips w/family
same Township. 1810 census shows Peter MOLESY Jr and SR, both w/families
in German Twp. 1820 census shows William MOLISEE w/family in Springhill
Twp.
MY GGGGF Thomas MALLASEE and wife Sarah arrived in
Pittsburgh from Adams County in 1825. In Thomas' son's (Henry) cemetery
lot is a Katherine KEEFAVOR, d 19 Dec 1858, notation says 'grandmother'.
If Henirk MALLESIE went to Fayette County he lost two sons somewhere.
Were they indentured to pay their passage ? Were they indentured in
Adams County ? Is anyone from Adams County missing a Katherine of that
time period ?
All of these names are extremely rare. Any help anywhere ?
