The biggest cemetery is the McKeesport & Versailles Cemetery. Records for
the cemetery have been indexed and are available at the McKeesport Heritage
Center. They also have a very useful index of obituaries in the McKeesport
newspaper and microfilm of the paper.
The cemetery is located on the northeast end of town, just up river from the
McKeesport-Dravosburg bridge. If you are driving from Pittsburgh, the
entrance is on your left just after the bridge approach and just before the
McKeesport hospital. There is an elaborate stone and wrought iron entrance
gate. Just inside the gate is a stone building that houses the cemetery
office. Office hours are eratic. The cemetery is narrow near the entrance
and then fans out as you go further in and uphill, passing numerous large
stone family crypts. The drive is paved with brick and there are many large
mature trees in the older sections.
