Al and Michelle,

Virgin Alley does exist in the "current" City of Pittsburgh. According to
the 1911 Atlas it is in the 22nd and runs into the 23rd Wards of Pittsburgh.
At one time however, this was Allegheny City, 2nd and 9th Wards.

Oliver St. in the downtown area of Pittsburgh WAS once Virgin Alley ALSO.
As these were independent Cities at that time it is not surprising that two
streets with the same name are found. As early as 1834 and as late as 1903,
Oliver street was identified on a City of Pittsburgh maps as Virgin Alley.
In the 1911 Atlas streets that had their names changed to avoid duplication,
due to the annexation of Allegheny City, are usually identified with the old
and new name. However, Virgin Alley is only identified as the Northside
location, which may only indicate that is was not changed specifically due
to the annexation but possibly a short time before.

If Michelle is certain that she is looking for an address in the old City of
Pittsburgh then Oliver Street appears to be the location.

I found my Virgin Alley was later changed to Oliver St. through this site.
