Subject: [ALL] Another question on guardianship
Date: Sat, 22 Jan 2000 21:05:37 EST

I have an individual, relationship to family unknown, but with the same
surname, who signed as a guardian for the marriage of a minor in 1893. I
know both parents were alive and in Allegheny County several years prior to
the marriage. The mother was definitely alive after the marriage. I assumed
that the father had died and that the individual must be another relative.
If it is a relative, would some type of papers had to have been filed for
this individual to officially sign as guardian? I am in Florida, so to whom
would I write to start the search for guardianship papers?
Thank You,
Betsy in Florida
