Victoria,
The town is probably "Besseges." Since the final "s" is silent, it very
likely was lost in transit. Besseges is located in Gard, in the region
of Languedoc-Roussillon in southern France. It's about 75 miles
north of the Mediterranean Sea. You can find it by running a
search at < http://www.expediamaps.com >
A search of Rootsweb's mailing lists might reveal a list for the area.

I have always known that there were a great number of French and Belgian
immigrents to the McDonald, PA area, but until I started going through all
these obits, I never realize that so many of them came from one town,
Bessege, France.
Does anyone know if there is a list someplace for those researching this
town? I'd like to drop a note to let them know how many came to McDonald.
