A Little History for those of you with Scotch-Irish backgrounds:
Th Scoth-Irish were not really Irish, either. Rather, they were Scottish people who had moved to Ireland (some say they were "relocated" by the British) to help control the Irish. Because of tensions and wars, some made the move to the New world, settling in areas that reminded them of the highlands of Scotland, like the Appalachian Mountains (ie Western PA - However, some stayed in Ulster/Northern Ireland, and as a result, there are the religious/racial wars that continue to spring up in Northern Ireland).
