"the Scot/Irish were between 1/3 and 1/2 of the fighting force in the Rev.
War. Of course they had come here much earlier and probably not in such huge
numbers and I imagine, not as poor"
A Little History for those of you with Scotch-Irish backgrounds:
Th Scoth-Irish were not really Irish, either. Rather, they were Scottish people who had moved to Ireland (some say they were "relocated" by the British) to help control the Irish. Because of tensions and wars, some made the move to the New world, settling in areas that reminded them of the highlands of Scotland, like the Appalachian Mountains (ie Western PA - However, some stayed in Ulster/Northern Ireland, and as a result, there are the religious/racial wars that continue to spring up in Northern Ireland).
Researching these Western PA families: Huether, Bupp, Wood, Pfeiffer
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths."
