Date: Fri, 10 Jun 2005 17:35:07 -0400
So many people were just learning about the FREE access to Ancestry.com
Civil War databases that Ancestry has decided to keep the databases open
for an additional weekend - free and open though June 12.
So, if you haven't yet checked for your surnames among the 3.5 million
military records, you can so for a few more days.
Here's the link:

Even if you don't know if you had a Civil War ancestor, you can use this
opportunity to find out. If you find a Civil War relative, it opens the
door to find huge amounts of genealogy info from the National Archives.
Learn what you may find and how to order records at

The FREE Civil War databases are
**1890 Census Veterans Schedule
**Civil War Pension Index
**Disabled Soldiers Home
The 1890 Census Veterans Schedule is often used as an 1890 census
substitute (since the original 1890 census was damaged in a fire), and
all three databases cover about this same time period.
The access is free and open. A free trial is not required.
Enjoy,
Kathi
