Perhaps the tombstone read, "Heir ruhe im Gott", here resting with God.
Mai is definitely for May.

Subject: [ALL] German translation help

I have an ancestor, Johann Weiss, buried in St. Teresa's Cemetery in
Perrysville,, Alegheny Co. with the following inscription:
Geboren 10, MAI 1867
Gestorben 8, JANUAR 1891
Hifrruht in gott.
Can anyone tell me what the German words are plus is MAI for May or March?
I am assuming that JANUAR is for January.

Thanks for the help,
Gloria Weiss
