Roger, Tennis balls!! Do you think they will ever cook through? More
like golf balls from my experience.
Incidentally, I live down here in the SW Indiana which is "German" and
we have hard time finding German food. Every time we come to the Burgh,
we stop at McGinnis' on 88 by Castle Shannon and buy some imported
stuff. Among our treasures are the potato pancakes and dumplings
(Knoedel in Bavaria or Kloesse in Berlin) made by Panni or
Kartoffelland. The dumplings are all ready to drop in the water and
boil. They are in plastic "bags" that peel off after cooking. The
pancakes have to be mixed and fried. You can also buy premade-like
noodles- by Panni called Spaetzle. We find these in our grocery here
sometimes.
We just finished a real delight to me Bratheringe with "German" fried
potatoes.. These are canned fried herring that are then pickled. In
Berlin, my wife finally got me to try Matjes Herring sandwich (on a hard
roll)on about our 4th trip there. Now we eat them almost every day we
are in Berlin. I'm getting hungry just writing about it.
