Thanks everyone, for the ideas and trying to help.

Marguerite:
I just tried this number and it's no longer in service. Tried twice to make
sure I got it right.

Al:
I was at the cemetery once on a trip to Pittsburgh. It was on a hill and it
was getting dark. My husband and uncle were creeped out, but my aunt and I
looked around. It was several years ago and I don't think we looked at every
stone. If he is there, it's in an unmarked grave because someone (can't
remember her name) said she copied them. I tried getting an obituary and
checked with the county for a death record, but nothing. He was in the 1896
city directory, but on the 1900 census, his wife is listed as a widow. My
mom lived with this TAYLOR family and said unfortunately a lot of their
family records were lost in the 1937 flood in the West End area. My mom
inherited some funeral cards, photos, etc., and I have them all now. Among
the things was a birthday booklet which gave Henry J (John Henry)'s birth
date. He was born someplace in Massachusetts and I can't find him there
either. He's the "brick wall"! - I found his wife, Bridget THORPE's family
that came from Ireland. There's lots of information regarding them in
Massachusetts and that should be a clue as to where he was, too, but again
nothing and no marriage record either even though they have them going back
far.
