Don and Holly thank you so much for your ideas and suggestions.
They are just what I was hoping for so that
I could begin making plans of where to go and what to do. From a similar
trip to Kansas City a few months ago,
I discovered that it is good to vary the routine a little bit. Too many
hours at the microfilm or looking at old newspapers
or looking through land records and deeds can break concentration and numb
the brain. So I concentrated on a
couple of sources each day and then the next day went to a different library
or historical society. It seemed to work
pretty well and so I am very glad that you sent times and locations and
phone numbers. Especially if I need to reserve
anything ahead of time.
I am also forwarding the thoughts that I sent to PAINDIAN list.
All the best to you and thanks for your kind and generous help.

PS - Don, Depending on the time frame you may have been acquainted with my
gg grandfather's brother's descendant.
I was able to meet him several years ago and I believe that he died in the
1990's. John and Jane Ralston. Fortunately,
he shared what he had recorded and shared it with me, which opened many
doors and cleared up some of the mysteries.
