Hello,

Can anyone tell me if the Civil War regiments 13th PA Infantry and 139 PA
Infantry were recruited from specific areas? My ancestor was in Company I of
the 13th in 1861 and Company H of the 139th in 1862.

These are the earliest records that I have been able to find of him. He
seemed to have managed to avoid paying taxes and his people did a good job of
hiding from the census takers.
