This week end I found four Beaver County families that disappeared from Beaver County in the 1870s and 1800s in Virginia. They had apparently moved south after the Civil War and purchased land for taxes. I found the families of Joseph and Lewis Cronk/Kronk and Eli and William Barnes (all born in PA) in the cemetery in Parker, VA. I have some info on these Barnes for anyone who is interested.

If you lose a family in the late 19th century remember to look south a well as looking west.
