Valentine MILLER & Ann Elizabeth SHAFFER are my gggrandparents. Effie May
was my ggrandmother. This is what I have. If anyone has additions or

1. Valentine MILLER. Born on 15 Oct 1814 in Centerville, Bedford Co., PA.
Valentine died in Bedford Co., PA on 5 Nov 1899; he was 85.

abt 1835 when Valentine was 20, he first married Eliza ASH, daughter of
Abraham ASH & Catherine COONTZ (KOONTZ). Born on 15 Sep 1815 in Bedford Co.,
PA. Eliza died abt 1848; she was 32.

They had the following children:
i. Jonathon. Born on 18 Mar 1838 in PA. Jonathon died in Palo Alto
abt 1860; he was 21.

ii. Jesse. Born in 1840 in PA. Jesse died in Fostoria, OH abt 5 May
1910; he was 70.

On 19 Jun 1884 when Jesse was 44, he married Nettie HUFFMAN, in Wood, OH.
Nettie died in 1929.

iii. Rebecca Jane. Born on 10 Feb 1840 in Cumb. Valley, Bedford
Co., PA. Rebecca Jane died in Mt. Pleasant, Isabella Co., Mich on 3 Oct 1916;
she was 76.

Rebecca Jane married Edward HANEY, son of Patrick HANEY III, in Cumb. Valley,
Bedford Co., PA. Born on 1 Mar 1825 in Bedford Co., PA. Edward died bef 3 Oct
1916; he was 91.

iv. Abraham. Born on 11 Sep 1843 in Centerville, Bedford Co., PA.
Abraham died in Fostoria, Seneca Co., OH on 14 Jul 1939; he was 95.

On 10 Nov 1872 when Abraham was 29, he first married Margaret BLESSING,
daughter of George BLESSING & Margaret SCHMIDT, in Fremont, Sandusky Co., OH.
Born on 20 Sep 1848 in Bristol, Wayne Co., OH. Margaret died in Jackson Twp,
Seneca Co., OH on 28 Jul 1892; she was 43.

On 4 Dec 1894 when Abraham was 51, he second married Rebecca SNYDER, daughter
of John SNYDER, in Freemont, Sandusky Co., OH. Born on 5 Sep 1846 in PA.
Rebecca died in Fostoria, Hancock Co., OH on 17 Aug 1923; she was 76.

v. Samantha Louise E.. Born on 11 Oct 1846.

abt 30 Aug 1866 when Samantha Louise E. was 19, she married Benjamin F.
ANDERSON, son of Cornelius ANDERSON & Elizabeth TROXWELL, in Berkeley, VA.
Born in Apr 1844.


Valentine second married Catherine SMITH. No children.

On 8 Nov 1864 when Valentine was 50, he third married Ann Elizabeth SHAFFER,
daughter of John W. SHAFFER & Mary RAWLINGS. Born on 19 May 1834. Ann
Elizabeth died on 30 May 1889; she was 55.

They had the following children:
i. Mary Emma. Born on 3 Apr 1865 in Cumb. Valley, Bedford Co., PA.
Mary Emma died in Bedford, Bedford Co., PA on 12 Oct 1957; she was 92.

On 24 Jan 1888 when Mary Emma was 22, she married George Brinton HEMING, son
of Richard HEMING & Sophia, in St. Thomas Catholic Church, Bedford Co., PA.
Born on 10 Apr 1865. George Brinton died on 1 Jan 1940; he was 74.

ii. John Harvey. Born on 11 Jul 1867. John Harvey died on 26 Dec
1943; he was 76.

iii. Effie May. Born on 18 Jan 1871 in Cumb. Valley, Bedford Co.,
PA. Effie May died in Centerville, Bedford Co., PA on 19 Nov 1903; she was 32.

On 23 Feb 1893 when Effie May was 22, she married Albert Elwood HOOK, son of
George William HOOK & Elizabeth GORDON, in Bedford Co., PA. Born on 26 Nov
1865 in Cumb. Valley, Bedford Co., PA. Albert Elwood died in Colerain Twp.,
Bedford Co., PA on 8 Jun 1945; he was 79.

iv. Ann Elizabeth. Born on 4 Dec 1876 in Bedford Co., PA. Ann
Elizabeth died on 27 Sep 1969; she was 92.

Ann Elizabeth first married Marion Philip MILLER, son of Adam MILLER & Eve
Catharine SHAFFER. Born in 1855. Marion Philip died in 1923; he was 68.

Ann Elizabeth second married Jacob C. BLOOM. Born on 19 Jun 1887. Jacob C.
died on 25 Mar 1965; he was 77.

<< I am a 1st cousin 3 times removed to Ann Elizabeth SHAFFER m. Valentine

MILLER. The only information I have is that she was the third wife of

Valentine MILLER and that there were 4 children. They lived in Cumberland

Valley Twp. and buried in Bortz Lutheran Cemetery.

Effie "May" b. 8 April 1871

Ann Elizabeth b. 4 December 1876
