In my very humble opinion, the best account out there of this battle is in "A
Stillness at Appomattox" by the late Bruce Catton, third in the trilogy that
includes "Mr. Lincoln's Army" and "Glory Road."

If you are really interested in the battle and want to know what it was like,
definitely read this book.
