I talked to my Dad a little while ago, and he found an answer to
a question that Becci Haines () and I had, as
to who had owned the HARTSOCK farm that my GG-Aunt Vergie
had been raised on. (In the big "city" of Hewitt, just over the
covered bridge, in Bedford County.)(I'm posting this to the two
lists due to the thought that other researchers might find it of
interest due to the associated surnames.)

My Dad ran into Kennie Hartsock (Bobby HARTSOCK's father)
last night in Centerville. (He's up for a little while visiting before
he goes back to Florida.) Anyway, Dad asked him. The land that
Aunt Vergie was raised on had been owned by Austin Hartsock,
who was Kennie's grandfather. (Austin was married to Nancy
ROBINETTE, a d/o Jeremiah & Margaret (LONG) ROBINETTE.)
(I do not know who Austin's parents were, nor where he & Nancy
are buried.)

Kennie's parents were Fred & Effie (SMITH) HARTSOCK. I'm not
sure what happened to Fred & Effie (nor where they are buried)
but something happened to them at some point in time, as Harry
& Grace (SMITH) BROWNING ended up raising him from
childhood. (Grace was Kennie's Aunt.) I've been told that Harry
& Grace had no children of their own, as when Harry died, Kennie
inherited everything. (The Harry BROWNING home is the big
white house that sits above the road, that you are facing as you
cross the Mason-Dixon going from MD into PA, heading towards
Chaneysville. As you come across the little bridge there, you have
to take a hard left to head towards Chaneysville.)

Claredon ROLAND (Aunt Vergie's father) had bought the land, (I
think, though I'm not sure who acquired the land after Austin's
death) and this is where Aunt Vergie & her siblings were born.
Aunt Vergie's brother, Charles ROLAND inherited the farm after
Claredon died.

Hope this helps, Becci. Any questions, drop me a line.
(Also, e-mail me off-list and explain how you are related to
Bobby.)
