Subject: found two tombstones - Hartle, Corle - need to find "owners"
Date: Sun, 3 Feb 2002 22:08:16 -0500
This weekend, while doing some yard maintenance on the house I bought in
Bedford recently, I discovered two tombstones (that we upside down used a
"paving stones" near the house). I'd like to find where they belong and
return them (assuming my house isn't built on an old graveyard!!!!)
The first sounds like a young man who died in the Civil War, the other a
young child.
The two:
John B. HARTLE
Died
in SatlerLee (?) Hospt
West Phil.
May 21, 1865
Aged
24 years 4 mn & 17 days
Rosa D
daut of
J. Scott & M. Jennie
CORLE
died
Mar. 21, 1880 (might be 1850 or 1860)
Aged
5 Yr 3m & 9d
there's also some scripted writing below this, but I didn't copy it down
If you know where they belong and/or can help me find how to get them to a
proper place, I'd appreciate it. (I'm guessing each one weighs maybe 100
lbs, maybe less).
If anyone has the old Imler cemetery series, maybe we could find these in
there? I recall some HARTLEs in the Pavia Cemetery in Union Twp....
