My grandparents did this, being married at the Lutheran parsonage on
the north side (at that time, at least) of town, just down the street from
the present-day Whites Applesauce plant (or whatever it's called). That
was in 1940. He (my grandfather) said that it was because PA wanted
a bloodtest, and that would require a wait for the results. VA didn't, so
they took that route.

Anybody else know of any other similar stories, or differing reasons?
