Leg Torn Off.
A young man named George Ringler, who has been residing for sometime at
Bedford, on Wednesday, while helping to thresh clover seed at Perry Trouts,
two miles north of Bedford, met with a terrible accident. He was cleaning
off the top of the machine and set his foot on the edge, intending to climb
down, when his foot slipped and his leg went into the machine, which was
running slowly. The machine stopped, but his leg was crushed and fastened
tightly in the machinery. Before he could be extricated, the huller had to
be taken apart, which occupied a long time and the man became unconscious
through the great pain. His leg was all mashed and was amputated above the
knee. He is about twenty-four years of age and labors for a livelihood.
Mr. Ringler has since died.--Everett Press.
