Hello Fran,
Yes, the connection that you mention (the possibility that two of your 6th
gr-grandfathers could be brothers) is definitely possible. I have a cousin that
has a Hartman line in VA. Not only do they trace back to his 5th
gr-grandfathers being brothers, but also one of their sisters is also another 5th
gr-grandmother! So, of course, the 2 brothers and the 1 sister had the same parents;
consequently. my cousin is a direct descendent of this one set of 6th
gr-granparents THREE times. I have seen brothers marrying sisters also, and coming
down to the same folks after several generations. I think that what you have
discovered was actually fairly common. Our ancestors did not have a large
variety of neighbors from which they might be able to choose their spouses. If
they were in the same area at the same time, probable connection to the same
people.
