Another option is simply to write to the Bedford Co. courthouse. I have
found them very helpful in the past, but haven't done this for some years
now, so maybe some other list member will weigh in on this. You would have
to tell them specifically what you want a copy of.
Unfortunately, I doubt you'll have much success with the courthouse on this.
These records are kept in the Prothonotary's office, and they traditionally
don't look up or copy things, and right now they are short-staffed as it is
due to some budget shortfalls.
If it had been a deed or a will you are looking for, you'd be in luck.
Those are on the Recorder of Deeds & Wills side of the courthouse (as opposed to
Prothonotary's office), and they (the Recorder) readily make copies, send you
indexes, etc.
So your best bet, as mentioned, is probably to get to a Family History
Center if one is near you, or, alternately, engage the Pioneer Historical Society
to go over to the courthouse for you. Please be prepared to pay them for
their work in doing the lookups and searching the old books and copying them.
If all else fails, I'd be willing to look it up for you. Trouble is, until
next summer, I only get there on the weekends, when the courthouse is closed.
