Jeff,
How many variations of the last name have you tried? The people who
recorded the church and government records in Berks County between 1780 and
1830 spelled Bensing as Bensinger, Benzing, Benzinger, Bentzing, and
Bensner. The recorders knew how to spell a neighbors name, so any name that
sounded close to that got the same spelling.
