Subject: Petitions to German Govt. in 1771
Date: Thu, 8 Apr 1999 23:20:45 -500
I have a question regarding a petition that an ancestor made to the
Zweibrucken Govt. in 1771, from Lebanon County, PA. This ancestor was
petitioning the Govt. for his father's inheritance, but the Govt. denied
it saying that he had left the country illegally. (Wasn't that the case
with most immigrants?) My question is this. Is there anyway that I can
find that original petition with his signature on it? This petition is
mentioned in Ken Yoder's book about Emigrants. (and also in Annette K.
Burgert's book on the Emigrants from the Western Palatinate. The parish he
is from is the Lambsborn parish - German Reformed Church.) Thank you.
