Men were? I'm still trying to find a first name for my Great, Great
Grandfather ? Shirey (Shierey) I've seen this name with various e spellings.
I know he was in the Civil War. Any help would be appreciated. >>
Is Shirey the first or last name? If that is the first, please let us know
the last name. I am researching the 128th Pa and have a list of all the
men. Six companies came from Berks Co. There were many units that came
from the area - I do not know them all, but there are some very good records
at the historical society there. However, just knowing the name of the units
that came from Berks may not be the answer. For example, there were some men
from Berks who were in the 6th Pa Cavalry(Rush's Lancers). This regiment was
mainly from the Phila area. ALSO, several folks mentioned checking Bates' "
History of the Pa Vol"? If you have the last name, this would be the best
place to start - many Pa historical societies have a copy, and you might very
likely find it a NJ Hist soc or library.
