According to the 1909 "History of Berks County" by Montgomery the
name Union Twp. was derived from the uniting of 5,600 acres from
Lancaster Co. and 7,500 from Chester Co. when Berks Co. was erected
in 1752. Union is a part of the "Schuylkill Section" along with the
townships of Brecknock, Caernarvon, Cumru, Robrson, and Spring. The
first settlers were Welsh who before 1700 migrated up the Schuylkill
Valley from the Welsh settlements in Chester Co.

The area now known as Union Twp., Berks Co., PA was originally part
of Chester County.

You might try researching the Welsh Tract settlements of Chester Co.
I think you're looking for a family living close to North Coventry
Twp., Chester Co.

Try the Chester Co. GenHome page which is a link from the Rootsweb
GenWeb page for Chester Co.
