Betty Burdan's post about Aquilla Neiman caught my eye. In her case
Aquilla was the name of a female. I have a male ancestor with that
name: Aquilla Martin, b. abt. 1790, don't know where.

Does anyone know if this name was commonly used for both males and
females?
