I am trying to establish a connection between two people with the same
name.I have a problem with which I am hoping to get some help from the
subscribers to this list.
Miss B's father died intestate in 1803 when she was eight years old.
Several years later, Mr G was appointed her guardian. Still later,
Miss B married Mr P. Still later, her guardian Mr G died and the court
appointed her stepfather Mr S as her guardian.
My question is: would the husband have become his wife's guardian as a
condition of their marital status; or would the court still have had
the authority to appoint someone else as her guardian? If the former,
I have not made a connection. If the latter, I may have made a
connection.
Can anybody help?
