*LEVY: Old antique document, an 1833 levy for $12,000 against
Valentine BROBST of Berks County, Pa., ordered by the Berks Co., Pa.,
court at Reading . Seller says: "The $12,000 demanded was a fortune in
those days, the equivalent of over $200,000 today. ... From what little
research I had time to do, it would appear BROBST also operated a tavern
in his home near Kempton, Pa., in Berks County, and a saw mill. There
are also four notes attached to this regarding the case." Other names
on the document are Samuel ELY, deceased, and Daniel MORTBERGER.

1765-1769,by Kenneth D. McCrea, Ph. D. This book includes information
from over 4000 land applications that have never before been published.
The East Side Applications were for land east of the Susquehanna River
within the area that had been purchased from the Indians prior to 1765 .

applicant, the county the land was located in, the names of person(s)
filing later paperwork for the land, references to the surveys, and the

original records. The book includes an every name index with over 16,000
entries and a phonetic cross-reference section to make finding spelling
variants easier. The counties included in the East Side Application
area are Berks County, Bucks County, Carbon County, Chester County,
Columbia County, Dauphin County, Delaware County, Lackawana County,
Lancaster County, Lebanon County, Lehigh County, Luzerne County, Monroe
County, Montgomery County, Northampton County, Northumberland County,
