All this talk about County lines and locations at different times has raised
my curiosity about some Township lines as well. Can anyone enlighten me on
the formation of Union and Robeson Townships, and if the lines bounding them
changed after their creation? I know that Robeson was part of Lancaster
County in 1729, and that it was annexed into Berks when Berks was created in
1752. I have tax returns placing my ancestors on 300 acres in Union Twp in
1767 near land owned by Mark Bird. They are listed in Robeson Twp in the
1781 returns. I thought they were in Robeson all along.
