From page 493 of the Centreport Centennial 1884-1984 by Milton and Luella
Blatt:

Rev. David H. MARKEY was born June 1, 1895 and died April 19, 1975. He was
married to Alice (REBER) daughter of Jonathan G. and Clara (SNYDER) REBER
who was born October 19, 1897.

David MARKEY, Sr. served as principal of the Perry Township schools for a
number of years, and taught in the Centreport Borough School 1920 to 1922.
He was ordained to the ministry shortly after his marriage to Alice REBER, a
daughter of Jonathan G. REBER, founder of the REBER Wagon Works at
Centreport.

After spending quite a number of years in school administration he was led
into full time pastoral work. He served various Brethren churches in the
Northeast Atlantic Church District (Church of the Brethren). Later in life
he served as interim pastor in small churches in the Lancaster area. He also
served as the administrator of Neffsville Brethren Home near Lititz, PA.
Four children were born to the MARKEYs.

From page 489:

Emma LOOS was born October 7, 1875 and died February 2, 1957. She was the
daughter of John and Sarah (FISHER) LOOS. She is buried on the Salem United
Methodist Cemetery at Bern, Pa. Emma taught in Centreport Borough 1912-1913
and the remainder of her life in the State of New Jersey. She retired from
teaching and lived on the John LOOS farm near the Berne United Methodist
Church until her death.

From page 487:

Levi HAAG the son of Benjamin and Maria (BLATT) HAAG, a long time resident
of Centreport was born there in 1879, died in 1955. He was married to Herma,
a daughter of John E. and Salesa W. (BEAR) PAUTSCH, born in 1883, died in
1959. They are buried at Belleman's Church. Levi for a time worked for
Darius RENTSCHLER, in the saw mill and later until his retirement for the
Reading Co. car shops where he followed his trade as a carpenter. Herma was
employed at the WINTER mill in town for some time, but always a housewife.
She played the organ in Belleman's Church for some years and served the
Sunday School in Centreport as organist for over fifty years. The HAAGs have
two children, Consula (MOYER) of town and Harold, married to Grace (GRAEFF)
of Dauberville, Pa.

From page 489:

Beatrice LEININGER was a school teacher in the Borough for a few years,
1925-1928. For a short time she taught at Bowmansville, Lancaster County,
and after she taught here she was employed by the Governor Mifflin School
District until 1965 when she retired. She had taught school for 33 years and
died August 31, 1975 at the age of 75 years. She is buried in the New Union
Cemetery at Myerstown, Pa.

Some of her former pupils of Centreport state that she was married in the
spring when she left here. The names of KLOPP and WALMER appear in the
record but we believe that she was first married to WALMER. She was an
active member of Advent Lutheran Church in West Lawn where she resided for
many years. Also, she was active in the Senior Citizens there, the public
library, Woman's Club, and the Reading Hospital Auxiliary. She traveled
extensively having made two trips to Europe to Austria, Germany, and London.

From page 495:

Stella (WAGNER) ALTHOUSE was born in Upper Bern Township, on October 1,
1905, a daughter of Thomas and Emma (BAGENSTOSE) WAGNER. She was married to
Willis ALTHOUSE, son of John and Emma (RENTSCHLER) ALTHOUSE who was born
November 22, 1904 and died January 14, 1962. He is buried at St. Michael's
Church. On February 23, 1968, Stella moved to Centreport into the apartment
which was formerly the WINTER mill. It is quite a coincidence that she now
lives at about the very spot where she was employed as a folder in the mill
by Mahlon D. WINTER and her doorway too is about the same location as the
one she entered while working there. Stella is the mother of three children:
Norman, Eleanore, and Raymond.

From page 495:

James S. MILLER was for many years a farmer in the community retiring from
this type of work at the age of 56. He was the son of Israel and Mary
(SCHOCK) MILLER and a member of Salem United Brethren Church in Tilden
Township. Upon his death James MILLER was acclaimed the oldest airplane
enthusiast in Berks County and despite his advanced age he took keen
interest in aviation and followed the movements of the various
around-the-world flights made at that time. He was the oldest person ever to
take an airplane ride at Whander Field along the Pottsville Pike, south of
Leesport. The flight was taken in April, 1932. He accompanied his nephew
Howard L. MILLER and took a trip over Northern Berks, including his farm and
Centreport. Raymond GRIM the pilot gave them a three-quarter of an hour
jaunt. MILLER was married to Polly (NAFTZINGER) who died ten years before he
did. His son was Melvin N. and his sister was Ellen, wife of Albert HENNE in
town. MILLER, too, had been a Chief Burgess of Centreport.
