Donna, in a book, History of Reading, by M Montgomery, pub 1898, it mentions photographers John Lee and William K Leaman as being there before 1870, so you are pretty close with your circa 1868!

Interesting, too, is that William K Leaman took over a soap factory from D R Hendricks, his father in law, in 1879. Hendricks had started it in 1866. It was named Leaman Factory, and made 20,000 pounds of soap for laundry purposes annually, located at 128 Washington St in Reading. So Leaman must have gone from photographer to soap making!

I am trying to place the date of a photograph. Based on known details,
and clothing, I would say it is circa 1868. It was taken by Leaman and
Lee Photographers in Reading. Can someone with access to Reading
City Directories give me the date parameters of when Leaman and Lee
were in business? Thank you!
