Shoemaker, Anthony Williams, Nathan Williams, Jacob Mier, Solomon
Williams, Thomas Shoemaker, Samuel Butler, Isaac Cleaver, John
Hallowell, William Hallowell`

Williams, John, the great-grandfather of the subject John J. Williams,
born in 1670, was a resident of Merineth, Wales. He died at age 80.
John and his wf. Ellen had children; Mary born 1697, married Anthony
Dennis, Hannah, born 1702, married Lewis Roberts, John, 1705, married
Katharine Marl in 1732 and left a son, Joseph, and died 1732. Arrett,
born 1707/08, died young. Ann married Joseph Ambler, Anthony, the
youngest son was born 1711, he married Sarah Shoemaker, d/o George and
granddaughter of Richard Wall, Richard came from Cheltenham,
Gloucestershire, England.

Anthony and Sarah were married at Abington Friends Meeting. They settled
in Bristol township. They had 18 children, many of whom died in youth.
Sarah, the mother died 1758, aged 41y 6m. Among their children, George
Williams, lived opposite Abington Meeting. Isaac, settled in Whitemarsh,
and died in his 89th year, and Anthony William Jr. born 1743, married
Rachel Jarrett.

Jarrett Family. The ancestors of the mother of John J. Williams-John
Jarrett, the grandfather of Rachel Williams came from Scotland. He
married Mary "Lucken" born 1681, d/o John, who came from Holland. They
settled in Germantown. John and Mary Jarrett had a son John, born 1718.
He married Alice Conrad. They had 12 children, John, Mary, Elizabeth,
Hannah, Rachel, William, Alice, Jonathan, David, Jesse, Tacy, and
Joseph. Anthony Williams and Rachel Jarrett married at Abington MM 25
11mo 1772. They had children; Joseph, John J., Anthony and Alice who
died young. Joseph the oldest son born 1777 married Ann Hallowell, d/o
John and Martha. Children; Charles (1st) died young, Alice, Anthony,
Martha, Charles (2nd), and Ann. Martha and Ann died unmarried, the other
children had grown to mature years and moved to Phila.

Anthony Williams, youngest son of Anthony and Rachel Williams, was born
1785, married Elizabeth, d/o George Craft.

John J. Williams, the 2nd son of Anthony Williams Jr. and Rachel, his
wife, was born 1783 married Lydia Knight, d/o Jonathan and Mary
("Cleaver") Knight in 1832. Children, Mary K., lived in Germantown,
unmarried, Thomas, born 1826, lived near Middletown, he married Fannie,
d/o Jacob and Margaret Shallcross. John Jay, 1838, wounded in the Civil
war. He moved to Cecil Co., MD, and married Laura Peach, d/o John and
Eliza Peach

Thomas Williams, married Lydia Knight. Jonathan Knight, the grandfather
of Thomas William, was decended from 2 very worthy families-Giles and
Mary Knight and John and Mary "Carver". Both families came to this
county with Wm. Penn on the ship "Welcome", in 1682. Jonathan was the
son of Joshua and Sarah Knight. Joshua and John Knight, his brother,
sons of Isaac and grandsons of Joseph Knight, were residents of
Abington.

The birth of Thomas Williams occurred in Cheltenham township, Montgomery
Co., 1850 married Elizabeth Comley, d/o A. Lukens and Margaret Colmey,
and granddaughter on the paternal side of Nathan and Elisabeth Comley.
Her maternal grandfather was ___ Hallowell. Thomas Williams and his wife
had 5 children, Comley Sr., born 1852, Mary K., died young, Comley Jr.
born 1856 married in 1882 to Ellen Walker, d/o Thomas. Mary K, born
1857 married Dr. Willia C. Powell and Maggie born 1860, died age 3.
Elisabeth, the mother died 1865.

Thomas Williams married 2nd to Susanna Nice, born 1838, d/o William and
Mary Nice. William Nice is a descendant of Anthony Nice, who came from
Wales about 1700 and settled in Nicetown, then called De Neustown. John
Nice, the father of William married Sarah Harper, the
great-granddaughter of Thomas Roberts, who came with Penn on the
"Canterberry", arriving Dec 24 1699 and took land at York road and
Fisher's lane. Mary, wf of William Nice, was the d/o Thomas and
Elisabeth Haslam, who came with their family from Bolton, Lancashire,
England, in "1824", the former having been a manufacturer in Phila.
Susanna had 6 brothers-George, Robert, Edward, Theodore, Thomas and
William.

Cleaver, Isaac. Cheltenham. Proved Sept 6 1799. To wife Rebecca 150pds
and income of estate. To dau. Hannah, clock; at her deaith to her son
isaac Tyson. At wife's death, remainder of estate to be sold and money
to be divided as follows: Grandson John Tyson of dau. Agnes, dec., 5pds.
To Rebecca Craft of dau. Agnes, 200 pds. remainder divided into 3 parts.
To dau. Hannah, interest of 1/3 part. Remainder 2/3 parts divided among
grandchildren; Peter, Rynear, Benjamin, Jesse, Mary and Hannah Tyson,
children of dau. Mary, Rebecca Lukens and children of grandson John
Tyson. Execs: Son-in-law Thomas Leeck, John Child and Anthony Williams

Williams, Joseph. Upper Merion. Proved Dec 9, 1817. To grandsons: Joseph
Jarrett, Joseph Thomas, and Joseph Conrad, 100 pds each. To dau.
Elizabeth 50 pds. To Ann Moyer, $50. To Meeting of Friends at Plymouth
100pds. To dau. Sarah, 1/3 part of estate and other 1/2 to her children,
equally. To dau. Ann interest of 1/3 of estate. To 5 children, 1/3 part
of estate, equally. To dau. Mary, 1/3 part of estate. Execs. Son-in-law,
John Iredel.

Williiams, William, Gwynedd. Proved Nov 4, 1799. To dau. Ann, feathbed,
case of drawers, 100pds. To sons William and John 100pds equally. Farm,
143 acres and remainder of personalty to be sold and money dividd among
9 children; Thomas, Enoch, Isaac, William, John, Ann, Elisabeth, Sarah,
and Ellin, equally. Execs; John Evans, son John. Wit: Samuel Castner,
Nicholas Reil, Evan Jones.
