Sorry, I don't have anything on this name, but maybe someone on this list does, so am sending to the PABerks maillist.
If you are not a member, then, to join, send an email to with the subject 'subscribe' in the proper field, Once joined, you will receive a message explaining the mail-list and how to 'unsubscribe' and how to send messages to the PABERKS list, and you will be a member of the Digest list, which sends messages once a day, mostly, of all the messages to the list for that day. Hope this is of some understanding......

Hello,
Is there an index that you can look up Abraham Bates (Betts, Beats, Betz, Batts,...)? I'm looking for an Abraham Bates who was in the War of 1812, and his Military records give his town as 'Rohrersberg'. I think he's the same Abraham Bates in the 1820 census in Bethel Township.
I'm interested in his marriage, children's births, and/or his death record that may be recorded in the church, since it's in Bethel. It's likely that he married between 1805-1815 and that he died before 1840. Also he may have had 5 children between 1807-1820 (according to the 1820 census). I'd be particularly interested if he had a son born ~1817 named Abraham Bates (my gggrandfather - may have been Abraham Harry or Harry Abraham Bates).
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Libby Bak
PS I noticed you have alot on Berks County, including the 1914 Bertolet book. Are you also a descendant of Jean Bertolet?
