"Now, you mention rods, do you actually use coat hangers, or what is used? I
had been told it had to be a certain wood."
If you haven't already done this, the easiest way to get a lot of scoop on grave dowsing is
to google for it. I wouldn't want to offend anyone, but you should google for "grave
dowsing". Several dozen sites will come up. If you just use dowsing, you'll get a ton of
sites primarily about water and mineral dowsing; lost among them will be grave dowsing
sites. For a quickie look at one of the sites, click on:

I think there might be a as many preferred materials and methods as there are people who
dowse. Some use welding rods; some use heavy copper wire; some swear by wooden Y-shaped rods
made of ash, cherry, hickory, or willow. You'll see the above dowser explain how she makes
coat hanger dowsing rods. I've always used coat hangers; but for me, her method is one of
little extra, unnecessary work. I've always done it more simply:
* Take a regular, old-fashioned metal coat hanger.
* Cut it at a point about 3 1/2 to 4" from where the sides come together to form the hook
(top).
* Next cut it along the long, bottom run, about 2" from the corner -- what I'll call
"opposite" from the first cut made.
* Then straighten out the remaining corner, making a nice big "L". Mine tend to be about 6"
on the short leg and 16" on the long leg, give or take a bit. I find that precise
measurements are not really important.
Do bear in mind that what works for Jack may not work for Jill. With determining gender: for
me, I get a clockwise circular motion for males and a counter-clockwise for females; for my
wife, it is the opposite. Go figure!
Happy hunting....Morris
