We have the white crosses on highways where there have been fatalities in
Vermont.

What brought this to mind was the story "Death of a Maiden Student" which I
was sent. In the story Josie Langmaid was murdered on her way to school and a
marble stone was erected where her body was found. She also has a tombstone
in the family plot in Suncook NH. (I think). I had also read about death
stones placed in the woods where someone died.
