Thank you for these very exceptional and old people. Reminds me that my
Grandfather Mark Rockwell Lefler was the principal of the school in South
Waverly/Sayre from about 1905 to 1908 and that my father was born there on
May 6, 1906. We have never been able to find a birth certificate for
him(Sterling Mark or Myron Rockwell Lefler). They lived on School Street
next to the school. In 1909 the family boarded a train in August for a new
job in Perth Amboy,NJ. The town fathers turned out to persuade him to stay
telling him he was a Rockwell/Lefler/Carley/Ferris/Stilwell etc and that he
belonged there(They were actually from Jobs Corners over in Tioga Co). But
they told him he was like the cattle and belonged there. He is reputed to
have said that;" well, then, here is the cow that jumped the fence and went
over the moon." Consequently, I was born in CT and now enjoy "coming home"
for Daggett Days over in Jackson, Tioga Co,Pa.
