Subject: [PABUCKS-L] WESSA?

Help me out here folks.
I'm researching early Renners, from Valentine Renner of Bucks co, came
over on the ship "Johnson" in 1732, to any Renner family today. A fellow
researcher found a German record listing Valentine's wife's surname of
WESSA.
The German record we have says that Hans Jakob Wessa, b. 1681, father
of Margaretta (or Anna Margaretta, Valentine Renner's wife) died in
America. No immigration info is listed for his name in the German
record. Just "Died in Amerika".
Considering that WESSA could be VASSA or some variation (German "W"
sounds like "V") are there any WESSA known in PA in the 1700's? Anyone
familiar enough with the ship's list to check this? I did a look at the
indexs with no luck.
I figure he either died in passage or in Phil., as many did, or he
settled near, or with, his daughter in Bucks co. If he got to her he may
never have turned up on any tax or estate records.
Any help appreciated. I'm posting this to the PA and Northampton list
too.
Many thanks,
Robin
