Our Ancester John Laur b. ca 1761 apparently was born Bucks Co.
Pennsylvannia. He came to Bertie Twp Welland Co Upper Canada begining
1787-1790.
There is a close realationship between the Laur/Zavitz/Learn families.
Phoebe McCarty Roberts from Bucks Co came on a missionary journey to
Upper Canada and wrote a journal that made reference to John LAWER as
being from Jermny (Germany) and had been a neighbour to her father
Thomas McCarty in Hummeleton over the mountain. Thomas McCarty lived in
Hamilton Twp, Northampton Co. 1776 til at least 1790 but died in Muncy,
Lycoming Co. PA 1894. Iam hoping that someone will be able to help me
if they have access to records to Hamilton Twp between the years 1781
and 1787, to pull any possiblitity of John LAUR from that area . He was
married to Sarah born 1768 possibly LEARN or ZAVITZ.
Laur could have many variations of spelling LOHR, LAUER, LARE, LAWER,
LAWR, LEHR, LAHR
