Subject: [PABUCKS-L] I am convinced! Samuel AYRES Deep Run
Date: Tue, 09 May 2000 10:26:52 -0400

Folks,

I have received a reply from the kind secretary of the Deep Run
Church called the Old Irish Meeting House, at Bedminster...

She had a book on the history of the church (I guess no current
records?) that lists Samuel AYRES. I am copying and pasting that
part of her letter, with the goal of asking you to help me break
this STEEL Wall!

"I have looked in a book published on the church history of Deep Run
Church. I could not find more than just one mention of Samuel Ayers.
The only info. in the history we have is that he emigrated from Antrim,
Ireland and that he died at Deep Run in 1742. However, I cannot find
his name on the list of those buried in the cemet[e]ry on these
premises."

This is sad. Extra sad, because once you go overseas to Ireland, I
believe the ancestries are fairly well known! I am so close, yet
so far. Government data is limited at this early stage. I do not
know if he had a will, or how I would obtain it, or even from where.

But Church Records were often important for this reason, and now I
fear, that source is gone...

Can anyone help with any kind of lookup, advice, etc.? If there was
a will...

I do know his wife was Margaret RICHMOND, but know essentially
nothing at all on her. Was there a will for her? She died within
a year after landing at Philly. Where would she be buried if she
died in Philly and was a covenanter? How would I find info for her?

Thanks,
Vincent E. Summers
(One of those bad heir days)
