Here is the data that was sent by Ms. Rose Atler, Church Sect'y. of
the Old Irish Meeting House in Bedminster, on William ARMSTRONG...
I know I have Armstrongs, but do not know if they go back to this one.
My Armstrong, immediately available, is this:
William ARMSTRONG, m. Matilda Willis AYRES on April 30, 1826 in
Harrisburg, PA (Marriage by "Rev" B. Keller). He was born on
October 7, 1801 and died July 31, 1878.
Does anyone know if this connects back to the following William???
*********************************************************************
William Armstrong emigrated from Fermaugh, Ireland with his wife and
three sons in 1736 and was of Scotch Irish descent. His lineage can be
traced back to John Armstrong, chief of the border clan of that name,
treacherously murdered by James V of Scotland. William brought with him
a certificate signed by twenty neighbors and friends testifying to
their good character, and erected a dwelling in Bedminster in 1740. He
received a patent from Thomas and Richard Penn in 1747 for 300 acres of
land and in 1745 bought 104 additional acres. Wm. Armstrong was
portrayed a[s] a man of education and intelligence, great physical
strength and was an excellent swordsman. He died in 1785 leaving five
sons.
