Surname: O'Daniels

I'm looking for more O'Daniels descendants. My great great grandmothre
was Cora Elisabeth O'Daniels. Her line from Bucks County is as follows:

DANIEL O'DANIEL from Bucks County, PA (no known records of wife's name)had
the following children: Samuel, Allen, John, William, Daniel,George and
DENNIS (Dennis is the one to follow).

DENNIS O'DANIEL born between 1755 and 1794 in Nockamixon Twp.,Bucks County,
PA in the 1820 census. DENNIS died in 1828.
Children of DENNIS are as follows:
John - born about 1802, married Lydia Butler in 1831 in
Bucks County, PA;
Elizabeth - married William Garey in 1832 in Bucks
County, PA;
ELIJAH (my line shown below)
Susanna and Margaret.

ELIJAH born in Bucks County, PA on 3-8-1816 married Phebe (Louise)Castetter
born in PA on 8-2-1819. They remained in PA until 1846/1847, when they
moved to Stephenson County, Illinois. Sometime after 1860,the family moved
to Jewell County, Kansas. Elijah died 7-29-1877 in Jewell County, KS and
is buried in the Shaffer Union Cemetery in that county. Phebe died 12-11-1880
in Jewell County, KS and is also buried in the Shaffer Union Cemetery.
CHILDREN OF ELIJAH & PHEBE O'DANIELS (note, it is at this point in time
that the "s" was added to the surname and became O'DANIELS, no known reason):
Mary Ann born 1837 in PA
Franklin born 1841 in PA (Gwen O'Daniels husband's ggrandfather)
Julia Ann born 1843 in PA
Francis A. born 1845 in PA
ELIJAH born 1846 in Illinois (Patricia Bresee & Susan Price line)
Hugh Henry born 1851 in Illinois
Thomas J. born 1854 in Illinois

ELIJAH - (my mother's great grandfather) - son of Elijah and Phebe O'Daniels
was born 2-11-1846, in Stephenson County, Illinois. He married SARAH ELLEN
DIEHL (later spelled DEAL) - who was born in 1855 in Illinois.
She was the daughter of BALSER DIEHL, who was born in Germany and MARY
PIERCE. According to family history, ELIJAH was also called "ELISHA" or
"LIGE". ELIJAH and SARAH moved from Illinois and homesteaded 160 acres
in Jewell, Kansas. Her parents lived on the adjoining property.
ALONZO born 1875 in Kansas
CORA E. born April 1877 in Kansas
IDA MAY born 1878 in Kansas
CHARLES EDWARD born 1880 in Kansas
ORPHIA born about 1882 in Kansas
HATTIE born 1885 in Kansas
WILLIAM born 1889 in Kansas
GRACIA LAURETTA born 1892 in Oklahoma, near Purcell (Patricia Bresee's
ELIJAH took his family to Oklahoma (then called the Indian Territory) between
1889 and 1892. The family camped near Purcell in McClain County. ELIJAH'S
last child, Gracia, was born 1-28-1892. Family records state that ELIJAH
came into the room where SARAH and the baby were in bed, "sat down in a
chair, talked about the baby, then put his head back, gave a sigh and was
gone". There was an item in the personal
column of the PURCELL TERRITORIAL TOPIC newspaper of February 4, 1892,
as follows: "Mr. N. N. Jones reports the death of a man by the name of
ELIJAH O'DANIELS, who was camped near his place west of town and died last
Friday of la grippe (?). He leaves a family of a wife and six
children, the youngest baby born last week. They are in almost destitute
circumstances". The oldest daughter, CORA married WILLIAM A.WOOD, nine
months later. Sarah decided to stay on the farm in Oklahoma several years.
By 1896, Sarah had moved her family to Wichita, Kansas. There, Sarah ran
a hotel/boarding house. Sarah remarried HIRAM BISCO, who worked in a resturant.
Also in the family were ALONZO, WILLIAM and GRACIA. This marriage lasted
only a few years. Sarah's third husband was CHARLES MCDONALD, who helped
run the hotel from 1903-1909 when the hotel closed. SARAH AND CHARLES then
moved (possibly to Oklahoma) to "start a new life" according to family
papers. About 1928, SARAH went
to live with her daughter GRACIA DUNN in Independence, Kansas. After a
year or so, SARAH went back to OKLAHOMA to live out her life in her daughter,ORPHIA's,
home in Niles. SARAH died 9-20-1932, her death certificate lists the cause
of death as Nephritis. She is buried in the cemetery in Hinton Oklahoma.
April 1877, in Kansas. She married WILLIAM WOOD in the Indian Territory
(I must check with my contact for the date of the marriage. the dates don't
work out). They had a daughter: BERTHA born in July
1895 in the Indian Territory. In 1900, the WOOD family was found living
in Butler County, Kansas.
The Wood family went on to have Marvin Lloyd, Raymond Belmont Wood. Ray
was my grandfather.
