Jean,
I believe there is a connection to the Kolbs, but I don't know the
details. Three Kolb brothers from Meckesheim, just a few miles south of
Heidelberg, came to Philadelphia Sept. 11, 1738 on the ship Robert and Alice
out of Rotterdam. They were George Michael, Johann Melchoir and Johann Peter
Kolb. George Michael and Melchoir went to northern Montgomery Co. I don't
know what happened to Peter. It is possible that he had a son Martin and
they went to the northern Bucks (Tohicken) area. I had heard of this Martin
Kolb before, but I don't know his identity. There are Mennonite Martins, but
he was evidently not Mennonite and does not fit. The interesting hint is
that on the same ship Robert and Alice there was a Johann Christoff Wetterich
who could have been the father of your Michael? Alot of maybe's , but
interesting?
