My direct line is Burnside/s who married into the above families.
ROBERT BURNSIDE - Came here from Co. Antrim, Ireland with JOHN BURNSIDE and
others in 1817. It is believed other members came previously.

SONS OF ROBERT and wife ELIZABETH (possibly AIKEN):
WILLIAM, ALEXANDER, JOHN, SAMUEL, ROBERT (plus Unk. Daughters)

SONS OF SON SAMUEL (b. 1783)
JOHN, JAMES, ROBERT, SAMUEL, WILLIAM (and Unk Daughters)

There's supposed to be a connection somewhere with General Ambrose
Burnside--but perhaps all Burnsides make that claim. Other poss. connected
surnames
are: COLLINS, MACKEY, WHITE, AMBERSON, WRIGHT, STEWART, GARDNER, MARSHALL,
WILSON. The MC CONAHY-COOPER clan have the same exact history, having come
also
in 1817 from Co. Antrim, so there's undoubtedly some connection there and I
would appreciate info. on how they got here, etc.

I'd love to hear from anyone re these surnames and will be happy to share
what I have.

Sylvia Burnside
