My Cambria County connection begins in 1900 with John Jays, b- May 1865
in England, where he and his wife Mary Jane Tubbs-Jays, b-Nov 1867 in
Clearfield County, PA, can be found in the Federal Census. John was a
butcher at the time. Their children at that time were:

Grace b-27 Aug 1888 in Clearfield County, PA

Harry Leonard b-31 Mar 1890 in Clearfield County
(whom may have taken the name Jay instead of Jays)

Laura Jays b-17 Feb 1892 in Clearfield County, PA

Walker Jays b-31 Mar 1894 in Clearfield County, PA

Jemima (Jennie) Jays b-16 Oct 1896 in Clearfield County, PA

Charles b-2 Sep 1898 in PA
(whom may have taken the name Joy instead of Jays)

Later, in the 1910 Census for Cambria county, John and Mary had 4 more
children. They were:

William b-10 Nov 1900 in Cambria County, PA

Melvin b-12 May 1902 in PA

Raymond b-22 Dec 1905

Pearl b-10 May 1909

John supposedly died in Canton OH in 1915, (although I've checked OH for
proof and so far nothing shows up.) Mary shows up in the 1920 Census
for Clearfield County married to Jessie Potts, b-abt 1877 in England,
with her two youngest, Raymond and Pearl, and Thomas Potts age 19 and
Josiah Potts age 13.
