Subject: Cambria / Somerset County Surnames

I am researching several surnames in Cambria, Bedford, and Somerset
counties. I have also seen several messages that tie into names that I
have
seen in trees that I am working my way through in recent messages posted
to this list.... I just can not complete all of the ties based on the
messages that
I have seen.
The principle names that I am researching are:
Dunmeyer (descendents of William )
Emmel (descendents of Henry & Mary Emmel)
Lambert (descendents of Matthew - died 1759)
Troxel (Dorothy - wife of William Dunmyerl)
Rhodes (also Rhoades and Rhoads, Mary - wife of Henry)
Noon (descendents of Isaac Noon - died 1897)
Others that I am trying to dig up information on are:
Alwine (relationship is to owners of Alwine's
Dairy formerly in / around Elton)
Maldet or Muldett
Grove
Lohr
Miller
Heslop
Reitz
Fyock
Friedhoff
Berkebile
Daly (Daly Church in Central City is on part of the
Lambert family farm)
Horner (Luther married to Rachel Lambert, Susanna married
to John Lambert))
Good (Sarah married to a Lambert)
Gibbons ( Parents / children of David, Raymond, and Velvet)
Strayer
Myers (also Meyers)
Plummer (I've seen the link or reference as the name of spouse, but
have not put it together yet)
As you may have guessed, I am working on a very large tree (over 3800 names
and still growing)
but do not a lot of details. With help from several friends, relatives,
and others, we are traversing both
our direct and indirect relations on both sides of the family.
I am really looking for help on the Emmel / Dunmyer side. Most of the
relatives there are deceased
or are ravaged by the effects of old age. As I understand it both families
are from the Johnstown area,
Dunmyers from Conemaugh and the Emmels are from Dale Borough. A lot of
family records were
destroyed in the Johnstown Flood of 1977. (Yes... I am the son of two of
the victims of that flood,
Dolly and Bill Emmel from Dale Boro for anyone who makes the connection in
the names)
Any help or pointers that you could give me would be appreciated. I am
also willing to share the information
that I have put together as well.
I plan on getting into the Johnstown / Cambria County Library sometime
later this summer to pull a few of
the obituaries that I know the dates for... but until then, any thing that
you can help me with would be appreciated.
