Hi all! Just saw the following item in digest #70:
<<<HI
i am finding in all the rootswebs that i subscribe to that i am getting
tons of email from people responding to each others posts.........please email
directly to the person who posted the querry, not to the entire
rootsweb....some of us dont care to go through all this email about other
peoples ancestors............if the rest of us are interested in your lines we
will email you..........getting way too much stuff that doesnt interest me and
thinking about unsubscribing to all of them......hate to be bitter.......but
30-40 email a day is exhausting.....JOE>>>>
Obviously, I have missed something here. I thought the whole point of
subscribing to these lists was to read people's queries and posts about
ancestors in the hopes that one day, it would look familiar to me or someone
else who might be reading. You never know when someone who married into a
long line of 50 ancestors of one person might be your own hard-to-find
ancestor. If I've got this wrong, I hope someone will clarify the rules about
what should and should not be posted to this list, as I do not want to be
guilty of cluttering up someone's e-mail box.
If I'm not wrong, perhaps Joe, you could just describe to the digest version
of a list; rather than getting individual e-mails all day long, you just get
one big e-mail of the day's posts, which you could skim over as you wish.
That way you wouldn't have to "unsubscribe." Just a thought.
