Cindy, I have Pauls in Cambria Co. what's funny abt this is that this is
one of my lines that I didn't know abt untill not too long ago. My husband
whole family is from there & most still are. Probably hanging out w/
Kathy's family. :>) Anyway here are a few generations of my Pauls. I've
omitted my direct line as they went westward.

Interesting Note:

Mary Paul was murdered & her killers were hung. This was the first hanging
in Cambria.

She lived in the country, about two miles south of Summerhill, Croyle
Twp., Cambria Cnty., Pa., towards New Germany on a 51 acre farm. Polly,
and Catherine "Cassy" Mundy, 18-year-old daughter of Martin Mundy, who
stayed with Polly, were murdered by two men. One of the men was from
the Summerhill area, had committed some crime and was sent to the
penitentiary in Pittsburgh, Pa., where he met a man, and when the two of
them were released, they went to Summerhill and murdered Polly and
Cassy. The man from Summerhill thought Polly had some money hidden in
her home. The two men were John B. (or John M.) Howser and Daniel
Buser. In the Ebensburg Alleghanian (newspaper): Trial of David Riddle
for the murder of Miss Polly Paul, Sept 21, 1865 (Not Guilty). Trial of

Attempted suicide, Apr 12, 1866. Execution of Buser and Hauser, Apr 26,
1866. (Hanged Apr 20, 1866). Also in Apr 26, 1866, item regarding Mr.
Ulrich Paul, pg. 3, col 2: This was the first hanging in Cambria Cnty.
